You already own a LE CHEMISEUR® shirt and want to adjust the hip width? This page is for you.

Best practice for the hip width

The hip is the full width of the shirt in the lowest part, edge to edge. You should be able to close the last button comfortably even when seated.

LE CHEMISEUR® tips

😎 Wearing the shirt untucked with a thick belt

If you wear your shirt untucked over a thick belt, consider adding 1 to 2 cm at the hips for a more comfortable drape.
If the difference between the waist and hip measurements exceeds 5 to 6 cm, we also recommend increasing the waist measurement by 1 cm to create a straighter silhouette and avoid an overly pronounced hourglass shape.

🍑 Wide hips or prominent seat

If you have wider hips or a more prominent seat, do not hesitate to add 2 to 3 cm at the hips.
If the difference between the waist and hip measurements becomes greater than 5 to 6 cm, consider increasing the waist measurement slightly as well to maintain balanced proportions.

🔀 Adjusting hip width and shirt length together

If you shorten the back length, the hips will sit higher and can usually be reduced. Conversely, if you lengthen the back, the hips sit lower and often need to be widened.

How to measure the hip width on a shirt

Button the shirt, lay it flat, and measure the distance from one edge to the other at the very bottom without stopping at the seams.

Tolerance: A difference of +/- 1 cm is normal.
