# Creating your first shirt with our AI: hip width

### The Ideal Hip Width
Are you creating your first LE CHEMISEUR® shirt with our AI sizing system and would like to adjust the hip width? This page is for you.
### Best Practices for Hip Width
![The hip width is the full width of the shirt right at the hem, edge to edge. You should be able to close the last button comfortably even when seated.](https://lechemiseur.fr/data/lechemiseur/aide/Schema-bassin.jpg)
### When should I adjust the hip width?

#### 😎 You wear your shirt untucked with a thick belt
If you usually wear your shirt untucked over a thick belt, consider adding **1 to 2 cm** at the hips for greater comfort and a cleaner drape.
If the difference between the waist and hip measurements exceeds **5 to 6 cm**, we also recommend increasing the waist measurement by **1 cm** to create a straighter silhouette.

#### 📏 You prefer an extra-slim fit
If you like a very fitted look and usually wear your shirt tucked in, you may reduce the hip width by **1 cm**.

#### 🍑 Wide hips or prominent seat
If you have wider hips or a more prominent seat, adding **2 to 3 cm** at the hips can significantly improve comfort.
If the difference between the waist and hip measurements exceeds **5 to 6 cm**, consider increasing the waist measurement slightly as well to maintain balanced proportions.

|| For a harmonious shape, keep the hip width somewhere between the chest width and the waist taper.

## How to measure the hip width on a shirt you already own

![Button the shirt, lay it flat, and measure the distance from one edge to the other at the very bottom, without stopping at the seams. Compare with a shirt of similar back length, because the required hip width depends on where the hem sits—for example, a longer shirt worn lower usually needs more room.](https://lechemiseur.fr/data/lechemiseur/aide/BASSIN.jpg =800x275)
