Accounting for shrinkage after washing
Our AI automatically anticipates fabric shrinkage—no need to worry!
Even premium fabrics shrink slightly. Our AI compensates for this by making your garments a bit larger initially. This means the shirt you receive (before washing) may feel slightly too big.
Always wash your shirt 2–3 times before making any adjustments. Most shrinkage occurs during the first washes, after which your shirt will gradually reach the intended Fit Key dimensions.
Shirt shrinkage
Classic business shirts and French poplins typically shrink about 1 cm in sleeve and body length, and roughly 0.5 cm around the collar, chest, waist, and hip measurements. Casual shirts, particularly Oxfords, shrink slightly more, and each fabric behaves differently.
Trouser shrinkage
Cotton trousers (Chinos and 5-pocket styles) usually shrink about 1.5 cm in leg length and 0.5 cm at the waistband. Other measurements remain stable. Thanks to high-quality reinforced construction, our trousers don't stretch at the waist but may shrink slightly instead.
Wool trousers, including our Smart range (wool blends), don’t significantly shrink if cared for correctly: machine wash on a gentle cycle for Smart trousers and professional dry-cleaning for 100% Merino wool (VBC) trousers.
