Adjusting trouser hem opening

You already own LE CHEMISEUR® trousers and would like to adjust the hem opening? This page is for you.

Best practice

Regular Fit

Tailored Fit (recommended)

Slim Fit

On Regular Fit trousers, the hem opening can be widened by 1 cm, giving a dressier twist that is coming back into fashion.

Modern and dynamic, this close-to-the-body width suits most situations.

To create a Slim Fit, you can tighten the hem opening by 1 cm, giving a more casual style.

LE CHEMISEUR® tips

❌ Do not taper too much!

The fabric is slightly stretch, but it will not allow a skin-tight cut: keep at least 17 cm so your foot can pass comfortably. You may go down to 16 cm if your shoe size is under 43.

🥾 If you wear boots

To ensure the trousers can sit over your footwear, add 1 cm.

📏 You are short

You can taper the hem to create visual length. Remember to do the same at the knee width so the leg remains balanced.

🪜 You are tall and slim

We recommend not tapering the hem too much, to add visual breadth to your silhouette. Do the same at the knee width.

🔵 Plus sizes

We also recommend keeping a slightly wider hem to create a visually balanced cut.

Measuring the hem opening on trousers you already own

Measure the hem across the full width without stopping at the seam.
