Creating your first shirt with our AI: collar measurement

The Ideal Collar Size

The collar should close comfortably around your neck without feeling tight and without creating visible gaps on the sides. Choosing the right collar size is important, even if you usually wear your shirt open. The collar size influences the overall balance of the shirt and helps ensure a clean fit across the shoulders and armholes. A properly fitted collar should feel comfortable throughout the day while maintaining an elegant shape.

Trust the AI

In most cases, we recommend following the AI's suggestion. It is based on data from more than 50,000 customers and your first order is covered by our 100-Day Fit Guarantee.

In the following situations, you may consider increasing the collar size slightly:

🦍 You have a particularly thick neck

Some customers naturally have a very muscular or rugby-player build with a thicker neck than average, which can be difficult for the AI to predict perfectly.

If ready-to-wear shirts feel tight around your neck but you can still close the top button, consider adding 2 cm to the collar size.

If you cannot close the top button comfortably at all, you may add 3 to 4 cm.

😌 You simply prefer extra comfort

If you like a little more room around the neck, adding 1 cm to the collar size is often enough to improve comfort without affecting the overall fit of the shirt.

Measuring the Collar on a Shirt You Already Own

Lay the shirt flat. The collar measurement is the distance between the centre of the button and the outer edge of the buttonhole.
