Creating your first shirt with our AI : waist taper measurement

The Ideal Waist Taper

Are you creating your first LE CHEMISEUR® shirt with our AI sizing system and would like to adjust the waist? This page is for you.

Best Practices for the Waist Taper

The waist measurement corresponds to half the circumference measured on the shirt at stomach level (not on your body). It should allow you to sit comfortably and relax your stomach without pulling on the buttons, while avoiding excess fabric around the waist. As a rule of thumb, when standing with your stomach relaxed, you should be able to pinch approximately 2 cm of fabric on each side of the shirt.

Trust the AI

LE CHEMISEUR®'s AI is based on more than ten years of expertise and data from over 50,000 customers.

In most cases, we recommend following its suggestion. And remember: your first order is covered by our 100-Day Fit Guarantee.

📏 You prefer a very close fit

For a more fitted silhouette, you may reduce the waist measurement by 1 cm.

We also recommend reducing the chest measurement by 1 cm to maintain balanced proportions.

Even if you have a slim build, avoid reducing the waist excessively, as this can create an unflattering hourglass shape.

🪀 Your weight fluctuates

If your weight varies regularly, enter your highest current weight when using the AI sizing system.

If you later lose weight, adding back darts is a simple and inexpensive alteration that can reduce the waist by approximately 2 to 4 cm.

Measuring the waist taper on a shirt you already own

Button the shirt, lay it flat and measure the full width at the narrowest point, edge to edge without stopping at the seams.

Compare with a non-stretch shirt.
