Accounting for shrinkage after washing
Shrinkage after washing is taken into account by our AI, so you don’t need to worry!
Even premium fabrics shrink. Our AI compensates for it automatically. The shirt you receive (before washing) will therefore be slightly too large.
Before making any adjustment, it is important to wash your shirt 2 or 3 times.
Most shrinkage occurs during the first washes, after which the shirt will gradually reach the dimensions of your Fit Key, with a production tolerance of +/- 1 cm.
Shrinkage of shirts
Classic business shirts and French poplins lose about 1 cm on sleeve and back length, and about 0.5 cm on the collar, chest width, waist tapering and hips.
Casual shirts (oxfords, flannels, corduroys, linens) shrink a bit more, up to 2 cm.
Shrinkage of trousers
Cotton trousers (chinos and 5-pocket) shrink about 1.5 cm in inseam length and 0.5 cm at the waistband. Other measurements remain unchanged.
Thanks to their premium construction with strong interlinings, LE CHEMISEUR® trousers do not loosen at the waistband; instead, they tend to shrink slightly.
Wool trousers, including Performance (wool blend) trousers, do not shrink if properly cared for. Wool trousers should be washed on a delicate machine cycle, or preferably dry-cleaned for 100% merino wool (VBC). Never tumble-dry wool trousers.
