Best practice

Tilting the waistband to create a slope raises the back of the trousers without altering the front. In some cases it can improve comfort by preventing the trousers from gaping at the back, or by removing front discomfort when combined with a reduced rise. The standard slope matches that of ready-to-wear trousers.

We indicate the slope in degrees. A 3-degree slope raises the back rise by 1.5 cm.

When to adjust waistband slope

🍎 Discomfort at the front

Increase the slope if you feel discomfort at the front, around the stomach.

🍐 Waistband lifts at the back

Increase the slope when the waistband lifts away from your back even though its width is correct, so you gain comfort and the trousers cover your seat properly.

🥕 Folds form at the back

Decrease the slope if excess fabric creates folds below the waistband at the back and under the seat. If you already have zero slope, reduce the rise height instead.

Adjustment limit: It is technically impossible to choose both a raised rise and the maximum slope of 4.5 cm at the same time (this would distort the trousers too much).
