Creating your first shirt with our AI : back darts

You are creating your first LE CHEMISEUR® shirt with our AI and would like to add or remove back darts? This page is for you.

Shirt without darts

Shirt with darts

A shirt without darts has a clean back.

Darts are seams sewn into the back to remove excess fabric so the shirt follows the curve of your back. Ours are about 1.5 cm deep.

Darts and waist width are independent. Darts only move the side seams backwards; they do not change the final width of the shirt. For example, if you order a 50 cm waist with darts, we cut 53 cm of fabric, add the darts, and end up at the requested 50 cm.

When to adjust

🏋 V-shaped build

Darts protect you visually from the “hour-glass” effect—which can look feminine—by shifting the side seams backwards. The AI shoud already have added them for you.

🛝 Hollow back / rounded stomach

Darts help the fabric hug the small of your back and might be a good idea. From collar size 48 upwards you automatically switch to our Big & Tall pattern: shoulder pleats automatically replace classic darts (because the side seams are already farther back).

💖 Personal preference

With or without darts, the choice is yours. Some clients skip darts on thick fabrics such as flannel or on very casual fabrics.
