Creating your first trousers with AI – Hips Width

You are creating your first LE CHEMISEUR® trousers with our AI and would like to check the hips width? This page is for you.

Best practice

The hips measurement is the foundation for constructing a trouser pattern. It's the width at the widest point of the buttocks. The trousers should follow your seat shape without unsightly folds and remain comfortable even when seated.

Trust the AI

Trust our AI—it predicts the hips width very accurately!

🕺🏼 Buttocks shape considered

If you selected “Flat Buttocks”, the hips width was reduced by 1 cm; if you chose “Round Buttocks” it was increased by 1 cm (tilt and rise were also adjusted).

What hips width corresponds to on trousers

Choose trousers with little or no stretch (maximum 2 % elastane). Lay them flat with the button closed and measure the width from the left edge to the right edge, passing through the lowest point of the fly on the front.

The hips width is hard to measure precisely on an existing pair of trousers, because it is a 3-D shape.

What seat width corresponds to on the body

If you need to check the seat width on your body, measure around the widest part of the buttocks without tightening. Divide by two and add 1 cm of ease to the half-circumference so you can move and sit comfortably.
