Creating your first shirt with our AI: hip width

You are creating your first LE CHEMISEUR® shirt with our AI and would like to adjust the hip width (the half-circumference measured at the very bottom of the shirt)? This page is for you.

Best practice

The hip width is the full width of the shirt right at the hem, edge to edge. You should be able to close the last button comfortably even when seated.

When to adjust

The LE CHEMISEUR® AI combines our know-how with statistical data gathered from more than 20 000 customers since 2014. You can usually trust it—and you are covered by our Satisfaction-or-We-Remake Guarantee. You may still want to tweak the hip width in these cases:

😎 You wear your shirt untucked with a thick belt

Add + 1 to 2 cm at the hips. If the gap between waist taper and hips exceeds 5–6 cm, also add + 1 cm to the waist taper for a straighter cut.

📏 You like an extra-slim look

Subtract – 1 cm at the hips, especially if you always tuck your shirt in.

🍑 Wide hips or prominent seat

Add + 2 to 3 cm for optimal comfort. If the difference between waist taper and hips exceeds 5–6 cm, slightly increase the waist taper as well to keep the silhouette balanced.

For a harmonious shape, keep the hip width somewhere between the chest width and the waist taper. ||

Compare with a shirt you already own

Button the shirt, lay it flat, and measure the distance from one edge to the other at the very bottom, without stopping at the seams. Compare with a shirt of similar back length, because the required hip width depends on where the hem sits—for example, a longer shirt worn lower usually needs more room.
